This week has been full of bumps and bruises. For one I’ve been on a 30 day cleanse and while my mind, body and soul feel lighter, I’ve fallen back into some bad habits. And I’m a bit disappointed in myself and that disappointment can carry over into other aspects of my life, like into my family dynamic or my work environment. So this weekend, if you’ve fallen down, I want you to get back up, dust yourself off, hug yourself and then try again. We’ve fallen down but we get right back up because we know we have people depending on us to deliver the very best in Black culture.

Every article this week has represented that resilience, that wherewithal and that forgiveness that it takes to get back up. We talk a lot about preventing breast cancer this week, not just because it’s October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month but because Black women are still dying quicker than any other race of women and we need to arm ourselves with as much information as possible. We share where to get free mammograms and we share basic facts that are specific to us. We also wrote about the journey of a group of women who created the latest ‘morning after’ pill as well as moms who are still stigmatized over cannabis usage. There are so many situations to read about that will motivate you to get back up.

Don’t forget about The BLAC Playlist to share while you’re licking your wounds and preparing for the second round. We’ve got your back and know that even after falling down you can get back up better and stronger.

Until next week;
