Since the release of his unauthorized TV series, Mike Tyson has been busy promoting his flourishing cannabis brand. Tyson brought his Tyson 2.0 brand to several Michigan locations back in February and now he’s coming back to Michigan this Friday, Oct. 21. Detroiters can meet him at two different Michigan dispensary locations and possibly at a private invite-only party.

Tyson 2.0 announced earlier this year that its premium cannabis line will be available across Michigan through an exclusive cultivation partnership with Common Citizen.

Tyson is most famous for having bitten a piece off the ear of opponent Evander Holyfield during a 1997 championship fight. Hence, his gummies are named Mike Bites — and they’re in the shape of an ear with a bite out of it. Apparently, Mike Bites are so popular in the areas where they’ve been introduced that production facilities can’t keep them in stock. Tyson 2.0 also produces flower, concentrates, and edibles that are available in 14 other states.

Tyson Bites shaped like ears.

“Bringing Tyson 2.0 products to Michigan with a partner like Common Citizen upholds our promise to share the many wellness benefits of this powerful plant to those who need it most,” said Mike Tyson, Chief Brand Officer for Tyson 2.0. “Before I found cannabis, I used to be a very different person. This plant has changed me for the better, and I’ve made it my mission to share this gift with fans here in Michigan and across the nation.”

Yet, Common Citizen, based in Marshall, told some of its employees their positions will be eliminated effective July, according to a letter obtained by News Channel 3. Dozens of people were laid off, including those who specialized in harvesting, cultivating, packaging and maintenance, according to sources who asked to not be identified. A few managers were demoted and subsequently quit, one source said.

According to Metro Times Tyson has expanded his offerings and Michigan-based partnerships and a cannabis dispensary in Allegan County recently was selected as a distributer of Mike Tyson’s new product line. Tyson 2.0 products at City Hall Provisions, 222 S. Maple St. in Fennville.

While in Michigan, Tyson shared that he will be at Puff Cannabis from 3–3:30 p.m. Then he’ll head to the Ferndale Liv Cannabis location from 4–5 p.m., where he’ll take photos with the first 100 customers who buy Tyson 2.0 products. Starting at 9 a.m., customers who buy Tyson 2.0 branded weed will be given a wristband to come back and get their photo.

Mike Tyson will be at a Halloween-themed party later that night in Hazel Park at Michigan’s first cannabis consumption lounge Hotbox Social and is invite-only.
