Luxury Retailer McMullen To Open Pop-Up Store in Detroit

For six months, get access to a curated offering of luxury items from designers all over the world.

Get a hold of a curated selection of luxury items this September as McMullen visits downtown Detroit. The luxury retailer is opening a six-month pop store at 1419 Woodward Avenue along the Woodward retail corridor. It’s set for a grand opening on Sept. 16 a features a specially selected offering of apparel, accessories and home décor from emerging and established designers from all over the world.

“McMullen is excited to open a pop up in Detroit, a city much like Oakland, with a rich history and culture, and generally underrepresented in the fashion industry,” Sherri McMullen, the store’s founder, said. “We look forward to tapping into the city’s arts, entertainment and food scene, and engaging in meaningful conversations with the Detroit community both through our unique assortment of up-and-coming designers and also through facilitating connections and knowledge sharing.”

The luxury retail brand, which was established in 2007, is dedicated to empowering women and supporting African and African American designers, and these values will be on display in the downtown Detroit store. The pop-up shop was made possible with the brand’s partnership with Bedrock, a real estate developer managing more than 100 properties in Detroit and Cleveland.

“I am so excited that McMullen has chosen to pop up in Detroit! Sherri McMullen is a retail maverick and a true merchant with an incredible eye for exciting, wearable fashion,” Tracy Reese, a Detroit-native fashion designer, said.

“Detroiters have been starved for just this type of immersive retail experience. Everyone who loves fashion will be beating down her door!”

The McMullen store will open across from the Shinola Hotel and will join other Detroit-favorite stores including Good Neighbor, The Lip Bar, Greyson Clothiers, and House of Pure Vin as well as international brands Gucci, Bonobos, Warby Parker, Lululemon, Nike, and H&M.
