Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day in many Western cultures. There are a number of theories about its origin, but the most popular one revolves around the number 13. In numerology, the number 12 is considered to be complete, because it represents the 12 months of the year, the 12 signs of the zodiac, and the 12 tribes of Israel. The number 13, on the other hand, is seen as irregular and incomplete. This theory may explain why Friday the 13th is considered unlucky. Whatever its origins, Friday the 13th has taken on a life of its own in popular culture, appearing in countless horror movies and books. For many people, it is simply an opportunity to have some fun with superstitions. But for others, it is a day to be avoided at all costs.

1. Never step on a cracks in sidewalks or driveways. It’s said that this will bring bad luck.
2. Don’t walk under ladders as it’s considered unlucky.
3. Don’t let a black cat cross your path as it’s considered bad luck.
4. Don’t open an umbrella indoors as this is said to bring bad luck.
5. Don’t spill salt as it’s considered bad luck.
6. Breaking a mirror will give you seven years of bad luck
7. It’s considered bad luck to walk under a ladder
8. Don’t use scissors on Friday the 13th
9. It’s considered unlucky to have 13 letters in your name
10. Don’t wear green on Friday the 13th
11. Don’t get out of bed on the wrong side or you’ll have bad luck all day
12. If you kill a spider on Friday the 13th, it will rain for 13 weeks
13. Don’t cut your hair

But don’t be too quick to write it off as an unlucky day. There may be some truth to these superstitions after all. Who knows, contrary to popular belief, astrology says that Friday the 13th is a divine day. And other cultures believe the day to be good:

1. It’s a good day to get rid of bad habits.
2. It’s a good day to start new projects.
3. It’s a good day to take risks.
4. It’s a good day to try something new.
