Here are all the Detroit artists nominated for Grammys this year

A few of your hometown faves have found their way into this year’s Grammy nomination mix. The Grammys air on February 12, 2017.

Big Sean

Cass Tech’s (currently) most famous alumni has a nomination by way of his appearance on Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” album, which is up for Album of the Year.

Jack White

Another Technician in the mix, White also gets to share in Album of the Year glory if his appearance on Beyonce’s “Lemonade” helps push the album to the finish line. He and Beyonce are also nominated for Best Rock Performance for “Don’t Hurt Yourself,” and his own “City Lights” is a nominee for Best American Roots Song.


Formerly known as Maejor Ali who was formerly known as Bei Maejor, the Detroit native and U-M grad has production credit on the aforementioned “Purpose” album.

Mike Posner

From Southfield to Ibiza, the catchy “I Took a Pill to Ibiza” earned the singer-songwriter a Song of the Year nod.


HONORABLE MENTION: Though Lalah Hathaway isn’t from here, her cover of Anita Baker’s “Angel,” an urban adult contemporary staple this year, earned a Best Traditional R&B Performance nod.
