Set in the hot and sunny Los Angeles, the trailer for “Day Shift,” drops you off with Bud Jablonski (Jamie Foxx) as he aimlessly cleans pools. He’s hardworking — in fact, he works two jobs. He cleans pools during the day and he’s a vampire hunter by night. The story follows Jablonski as he enlists the help of Big John Elliott (Snoop Dogg) to get the $10,000 he needs to pay the bills and convince his wife (Meagan Good), and daughter not to leave him for Florida. The problem: Jablonski needs to convince the international union of vampires — the only market where he could sell his vampire hunting services — to give him a second chance given his well-documented missteps. The trailer gives you action, and comedy in equal doses. Just wait ‘till you see the scenes with Jamie Foxx trying to “comfort” a frightened James Franco, and the two arguing the merits of “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2.”

Brought to us by Director J.J. Perry, “Day Shift” is the newest Netflix exclusive film which will be available to stream next month. “I made Jamie’s character as much like me as I could,” Perry told Vanity Fair. “So he’s an ex-Army guy. I was an infantryman. He came to L.A. and he’s a guy that gets in over his head, a lot like I do, but he has to be able to get himself out of trouble. I have a nine-year-old daughter. He has a daughter. He’s trying hard to keep his family together. And, you know, times are tough.” With the former stuntman who “taught John Wick to kick ass” directing the film, expect to witness death-defying action sequences that will make you crawl to the edge of your seat in suspense and anticipation. Get ready to watch Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg “cut necks and cash checks.”
