Michelle Obama announced the release of her new book “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times.” It will be available starting November 15, 2022. The former first lady said that book is a memoir that will focus on her life stories that helped her feel centered. “I think of it as a kind of of a toolbox, a collection of some of the perspectives and practices I’ve gathered over the years to help keep me centered even during times of high anxiety and stress,” she said in a video accompanying her Facebook announcement of the book. She added that her hope is that the book can help people equip themselves with new tools and attitudes. “Together, maybe we’ll be a little steadier with the understanding that none of us has to go through any of this alone,” she continued.

Michelle Obama tries to offer solace to its readers in a time of uncertainty. “We’ve seen a global pandemic. We’ve seen an insurrection, a rising tide of hate and bigotry and intolerance, and a whole lot more,” she said. “And it’s often left me feeling out of balance. I don’t know about you. I felt vulnerable. And yes, at times, I felt afraid.” She said that the book is a result of reflecting on questions similar to what many Americans have asked themselves over the past few years. “How do we overcome? How do we overcome our fears? How can we channel our frustration into something positive? And how do we rekindle that flame that’s inside each of us?” Michelle Obama said. “I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on those kind of questions.” In this book, she shares in detail the answers she have came up from the reflections she have undergone. “So, I hope this book means as much to you as it does to me,” she concludes her announcement post.
