Single on Valentine’s Day in Detroit

ho said you need a date on Valentine's Day? (Besides everyone who has ever lived) Instead of envying your friends and every couple you see on Instagram, get out and do something you can post your own pictures about. Can't think of any plans? No worries, your heart is in good hands with BLAC's Single On Valentine's Day Guide.

Be Your Own Valentine:

Don't depend on another person to make you happy on a special holiday. Love yourself first. It's just like any other weekend, but treat yourself. Finish that pesky to-do list, get your hair done, clean up those nails and make an appointment for a facial and a massage. Don't be afraid to splurge a little, because no one knows how to make yourself relax like you do-and perhaps masseuse.

Love Those Around You:

Valentine's Day's purpose is to celebrate love. Give a valentine to a crush or family member, or perhaps plan a single's party where you can enjoy friends and meet new people. You can also call your single friends and family because they just may be dreading this holiday as well.

Volunteer:

Volunteering at a hospital, shelter or nursing home spreads love to those who are sick or less fortunate. Web sites like Idealist.org or VolunteerMatch.org allow visitors to search for volunteer opportunities in their communities.

Think of the Advantages of Being Single:

While others are tied down, you're single and ready to mingle! Enjoy not having the extra drama of pleasing another person and staying within boundaries. Go out and do crazy things couples are too in love to do!
