Women have been instrumental in the development of hip-hop culture. In the spirit of preserving our stories and celebrating Women’s History Month, Black Bottom Archives is presenting ā€œTurn My Girl Up: A Storytelling Event of Hip Hop Beyond the Patriarchyā€ a conversation featuring key players in the Detroit Hip Hop industry.

The panel will take place at MusicTown and feature Boog Brown, Nique Love Rhodes, DJ Stacye J, Miz Korona, and D.S.sense. The discussion will explore the many paths women have taken in the establishment of our beloved culture and the challenges faced along the way. The event is presented in partnership with DCipher and Queens Public Library and is free to attend.Ā
