At the end of which, MichBusiness celebrated and honored women leaders of the workplace who make significant contributions to their fields and communities with an awards ceremony.

On Jan. 19, United Negro College Fund invited the community to The Whittier in Detroit to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. During a brunch themed 'Lighting the Way to Better Futures,' Emmy Award-winning journalist Ed Gordon served as keynote speaker. The event honored community change-makers.

Our beloved black Santa flew in from the North Pole again this year. On Dec. 15 and 16, BLAC Detroit and Metro Parent invited area kids to the Southfield Pavilion to celebrate diversity, and for a meet-and-greet and photo with Santa.
