BLAC, the Power of 20
April 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of BLAC Detroit Magazine, formerly African American Family Magazine. For 20 years, we've empowered and amplified the voice of the community, taking care to spotlight those in oft-forgotten corners, like transgender black youth (May 2017), and celebrate the city's beloved heroes and change-makers, like Grace Lee Boggs (October 2016). As you've grown and evolved over the years, so have we, but we remain staunch in our commitment to our readers and to delivering stories that are impactful to our people.
We all go through that awkward adolescent phase and baby, we tried it with some of these covers. Some are great and others are laughably bad, but they're history - yours and ours. Check them out, but please, be gentle with us.
