The SCSEP March Madness Events/Workshops (LUNCH & LEARNS) will be held during March on the following dates and conclude with a senior basketball game:
March 2 – St. Patrick Senior Center / 58 Parsons St, Detroit 48201
March 9 – Northwest Community Center / 18100 Meyers Rd Ste 1, Detroit 48235
March 16 – Butzel Family Center / 7737 Kercheval St, Detroit 48214
March 23 – Detroit Association of Black Organizations (D.A.B.O) / 12048 Grand River Ave, Detroit 48204
March 30 – BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT @ Northwest Activities Center (11:00 am check-in)

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a community service and work-based job training program for older Americans. Authorized by the Older Americans Act, the program provides training for low-income, unemployed seniors.
SCSEP participants gain work experience in a variety of community service activities at non-profit and public facilities, including schools, hospitals, day-care centers, and senior centers.
Participants work an average of 20 hours a week and are paid the highest of federal, state, or local minimum wage. This training serves as a bridge to unsubsidized employment opportunities for participants.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Unemployed
- Participants must be at least 55 years of age
- Meet the household income guidelines below
