or the gentleman who loves wearing exceptionally good-looking ties, The Tie Box & Scarf Rack, located at 15618 W. 10 Mile Rd. in Southfield, may feel like this side of heaven.

“The tie is the most important piece on a guy,” says owner Deron Washington. “He could have a $1,000 suit on, but if he doesn’t have on the right tie his suit won’t speak the same.”

Of course, a guy can go anywhere to buy a tie, but Washington insists the tie connoisseur will find more at the specialty tie store.

“You may be looking for a red tie and I may have a variety of 25 different ties in that one color,” Washington says. “And, you’re going to always feel like you walked away with a great deal.

The Tie Box & Scarf Rack, which opened last fall, also offers accessories such as belts; hats and cufflinks also are available. Each Saturday, the store hosts free daylong events such as scarf parties, charity fundraisers and open house parties for emerging designers.  But men’s ties are king here, and the walls are covered with them.

“A tie basically says everything about a man,” Washington says. “A man with a great tie is someone you want to get to know. It says he has class and personality.”
