Owner Rhondell Love hopes to change the way Detroit consumes fruits and veggies.
Praise be! Split pea green is no longer the official color of health. The juices from Rhondell Love’s Life Juice Bar and Cafe are a literal rainbow of nutrition with benefits as varied as the shades in the bottles. “The thing with Life is you actually get 100% raw pressed juice,” Love says. “We don’t use water because it thins the product out. You get all the nutrients with one bottle of Life, where you might have to drink two from some other company.”
Love says he and part-owner Angie Love, his
fiancé, shop for all of Life Juice’s ingredients themselves. They buy, weigh,
ratio, press and package every bottle by hand, with no added preservatives or
online or grab a bottle from recently opened downtown cycle and fitness studio
Vibe Ride Detroit.
Love says, “I met (Vibe Ride owner Latricia Wilder) at a pop-up shop. I was giving out Life for free then. She was so impressed, she offered to foster Life on the spot.” He adds, “My assistant swore up and down she hated vegetables. She tried the Gazelle flavor” – beets, apples, lemons, carrots and strawberries – “and finished it without knowing it had beets in it. That’s what I want Life to do for the city.”
