Cruise for a cause at Cruisin’ The D

The annual Cruisin’ The D is back again for the third time on your streets and in your neighborhood.

The four-day event, kicking off Thursday, brings vintage cars, charitable causes, a bike rally, local shopping, music all together in the city of Detroit, in tandem – but not in conjunction with – the Woodward Dream Cruise, which passes through the ‘burbs.

Day one starts with a nationwide biker rally at Palmer Park showcasing antique, vintage, and custom motorcycles. Before the rally, you can fuel up at the Twilight Cookout, benefiting charitable organizations for autism and veterans.

The rally begins at 6:30 p.m. and cruises from Palmer Park to Belle Isle Park.

Day two includes a VIP private Reception Autism Speak Benefit at the Rattlesnake Club beginning at 6 p.m. Following the VIP reception, there will be a pre-cruise public post gathering at Roberts Riverwalk Hotel.

On day three, rev up your car engines for Cruisin The D 2016 Concours Competition, showcase, car cruise and live entertainment.

You can park your cars as early as 8 a.m. for the showcase on either in a designated lot or on the grass. The Car Cruise will begin at 6 p.m. at Palmer Park with music, food and entertainment from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The cruise wraps up with the Concours Winners’ Circle Showcase at the Charles H. Wright Museum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The winners of the the Cruisin’ the D 2016 Concours Competitions will be honored.

Following the Winner's’ Circle Showcase will be a close out cruising celebration in honor of bikers who’ve lost their lives. Bikers will cruise from Erma Henderson Park to West Riverfront Park.
