“Dancing with the Stars” announced yesterday that Alfonso Ribeiro will be joining the show’s next season as cohost. Tyra Banks, who took the hosting helm from Tom Bergeron and who has been the show’s main host since 2020, took to Instagram to make the announcement. “I love Dancing with the Stars so much. This season I asked for a front row seat,” Ribeiro said in a video that accompanied the show’s announcement in Instagram. “I am so excited to be the new cohost of Dancing with the Stars, and I’m as excited as all of you to see this season’s contestants compete for the Mirrorball.” Meanwhile, Tyra Banks posted a photo of her and Ribeiro with a grabbed photo from an episode of the ’90s “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” “So excited to finally reveal this! I’m reuniting with a very special someone I worked with when I was just 19 years old!” her post reads. “I can’t wait to stream live & have crazy fun w/ him!”

However, fans of the show will not be seeing their favorite stars dance on ABC. Disney decided to stream “Dancing with the Stars” exclusively through their own Disney+ service. The media giant also confirmed that they will no longer air reruns in ABC where the show has aired for 30 seasons. “‘Dancing with the Stars’ has entertained fans for 16 years on ABC, and we are excited to bring this beloved show exclusively to Disney+ as the platform’s first-ever live series,” Kareem Daniel, chairman of Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, told Variety. “The show’s broad appeal, as well as the overwhelming popularity of its Disney-themed competition nights, make Disney+ the perfect home for ‘Dancing with the Stars’ while continuing to expand our demographic reach.”
