Detroit Lions re-sign running back Joique Bell

he Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed running back Joique Bell to the team’s roster, after being released from the team earlier this year.

Bell’s story is one many Detroiters are proud of: playing NCAA Division II football at Wayne State and pushing himself all the way to the NFL. As a player, Bell’s Lions career began in 2011, but he got his start working as a security guard at the Lions’ practice facility in Allen Park when he was 18.

"It's surreal," Bell said in a 2012 interview with BLAC. "It's something you see on TV or a movie, I was working here and I pulled a scout to the side and I looked at him in the eye and said man-to-man, ‘Do you think I could go to the league from Division II from Wayne State?’ And he said, ‘Hey, if you have talent, they will find you.’”
