The Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center (MI-SBTDC) enhances Michigan's economic well-being by providing counseling, training, research and advocacy for new ventures, existing small businesses and innovative technology companies. With offices statewide, the MI-SBTDC positively impacts the economy by strengthening existing companies, creating new jobs, retaining existing jobs, and assisting companies in defining their path to success.

U.S. Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration was created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation.
SBA offers a variety of programs and support services to help you navigate the issues you face with your initial applications, and resources to help after you open for business.


SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the SBA, and has been mentoring small business owners for more than 40 years.

South East Michigan Entrepreneurs Association

The South East Michigan Entrepreneurs Association is designed to help you grow your business and make money. We provide training, networking opportunities, information and valuable resources that will help you succeed in business. Our monthly meetings and events give members an opportunity to forge new relationships, stay informed and get connected.


Detroit Economic Growth Corporation

DEGC has expertise and development tools to support starting and growing businesses in Detroit. We can serve as your liaison to the state of Michigan, Wayne County and the city of Detroit government agencies. We have incentives and financing tools for eligible companies. The DEGC offers a broad range of financial, technical and development assistance to commercial, industrial and service firms, as well as developers and investors wanting to do business in Detroit.

Michigan Economic Development Corporation

MEDC offers a number of business assistance services and capital programs for business attraction and acceleration, economic gardening, entrepreneurship, strategic partnerships, talent enhancement and urban and community development.

Oakland University's SmartZone Business Incubator

Oakland University's SmartZone Business Incubator provides entrepreneurial resources and strategic business solutions to develop intellectual property. The incubator supports existing and grows new technology-based and life science businesses with university resources, decision support technology, business counseling services and financial/capital acquisition assistance.
