Here’s how you can try out to become a Detroit Lions cheerleader

For the first time in its history, the Detroit Lions will be adding cheerleaders to its squad. And here’s your chance to become one.

We know the Lions have had a rough go of it lately, but it owners have said they want to “improve the fan experience,” according to team president Ron Wood. So the future Lions cheerleaders not only will perform during games to keep the crowds motivated, but also have a presence in the community and at fan events.

Per the Lions’ team site: Auditions for the 2016 Detroit Lions Cheerleaders will begin Saturday, June 25 at Ford Field with callbacks the remainder of the weekend. Pre-registration is required and details are available online at Detroitlions.com/cheerleaders or by calling 313-262-2300. There will be an industry standard $25.00 fee for registration. Detroit Lions Cheerleaders auditions will be closed to the general public.

And that’s not all: There’s a five-day training camp after the auditions. The squad will be finalized in August and make their debut at the September home opener against the Tennessee Titans.
