As a Detroit fashion trendsetter, Mike Bonner understands that making a lasting impression counts. “I studied fashion merchandising as a kid when I was turned on to GQ Magazine in the 7th grade. From that point on it was on and popping. I’ve always loved to dress up. My dad told me when I started in the comedy business to always try to out dress your audience, no one wants to see someone on stage looking bumming. For my entire career I’ve always dressed up since day one.”

The radio executive producer, show host and often fun news reporter on WDIV who can still pack a house performing for adoring fans from Dearborn to Berts in the Eastern Market. Bonner has been influenced by the style of some of the greatests performing trendsetters of our time. “I think one of the best dressed men in the history of men dressing up was Miles Davis. Some of those old Miles Davis videos had him dressed impeccably and I try to recreate his style on stage. I fully represent the Rat Pack style, put on a nice fitted suit, some cufflinks and you’re good to go.

“Here’s my rule. When I’ on the road, I always bring three suits depending on how I feel when I get their. I bring a tailored suit, a colorful suit and a black suit. I never want to bring one outfit and one outfit only because your outfit can impact your show.”
