There’s nothing like listening to good music and dancing into the night during Summertime. And in Motown, good music is in abundance. So, we’ve taken the time to put together a list of 5 R&B concerts coming to a venue near you this Summer, to make sure that you don’t miss the chance to have a summer night you won’t forget.

Erykah Badu & Yasiin Bey

The Queen of Neo Soul is coming to Detroit as part of her “Unfollow Me” tour, and she’s bringing hip-hop legend Yasiin Bey (formally known as Mos Def) along with her. The two Soulquarians will be preforming Sunday July 2nd at the Little Ceasers Arena alongside a few unnamed “extraordinary guest”.

When asked about teaming back up with the Black Star member, Badu had this to say, “We work very, very well together. We are family, we’re part of the same tribe, crew. We just gel well together; our music is in sync so it makes sense to me and I hope that the fans feel that way as well.”

Maxwell with Tamia

July 28th and 29th, Maxwell’s “Maxwell Night: The Trilogy Show” will be stopping in the Motor City. Alongside Canadian singer Tamia, Maxwell will be preforming his Las Vegas residency set live at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater. In addition to providing the city with good music and good times, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Community of Hope and NSO to help provide local Detroiters with the food, housing, and medical care they need.

Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys Will be coming to the city in her first 360 tour titled “The Keys to the Summer”. The Grammy winning singer-songwriter is going to light up Little Caesar’s Arena July 17th. Some VIP ticket holders will even get a chance to join Keys in her famous “Soulcare Sessions” before the start of each show.

“It’s going to be completely unforgettable and unmissable!” Keys said when asked to describe her new tour, “I describe it as a celebration of freedom and self-liberation! It’s going to be colorful, magical and will light up your body, soul and all of your senses!”

Summer Block Party Tour

The block party of the year is happening at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater. Featuring Jodeci, SWV, and Dru Hill the “Summer Black Party” is perfect concert for fans of 90’s R&B groups. August 19th these three landmark groups will be sharing the old Chene Park stage. Despite the announcement that SWV and Dru Hill will be missing a few dates, all three groups are expected be to preform here in Detroit.

Hot Summer Night

June 25th will be a night of 90’s girl-group R&B and early 2000’s Jamaican Dancehall in Southeast Michigan. TLC, Shaggy, En Vogue, and Sean Kingston are bringing their “Hot Summer Nights” tour to Pine Knob Music Theater.  And with songs like “Waterfalls”, “It Wasn’t Me”, “Beautiful Girls”, and “My Lovin’ ”  all confirmed as part of the set list, fans are sure to hear some of their favorites from these groundbreaking artist.
