National Black PR Society hosts all-male panel

Interested in the inner workings of Detroit’s public relations scene? Thursday is your chance to get up close and personal with some leaders in the field.

This one’s got a twist, though.

The National Black Public Relations Society’s Detroit chapter hosts its first all-male panel, aptly titled PR MANdate, focusing on men holding leadership positions in the women-dominated public relations industry.

Usually all-male panels are an easy target for mocking, but there is concern to be had.

"The public relations industry is primarily dominated by women practitioners," says LaToya Cunningham, the Detroit chapter president. "We wanted to highlight and explore male representation in our field and get the male perspective on issues related to our profession.”

The event will be held from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. today at MASH Detroit, located at 14711 Mack Ave., in Detroit. Tickets are $5 at the door.
