Teen HYPE Raises the Roof Against Teen Social Ills at HYPE the Rooftop

Alexis Wiley of Fox 2 News and Ron Rice, a former Detroit Lion, are committed to serving Detroit-literally.

An estimated 300 guests will turn out to see Wiley and Rice churn out cocktails-with non-alcoholic beverages available for kids, of course-as celebrity bartenders at HYPE the Rooftop at the Madison Building's Skyview Terrace on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013.

The fundraising event, sponsored by the non-profit organization Teen HYPE (Helping Youth Through Education), hopes to unite local role models in support and awareness for battling teen social ills, such as unprotected sex, drug addiction and abusive relationships. Proceeds will benefit programs that address these issues.

"We wanted to add something new," says Ambra Redrick, Teen HYPE's executive director. "This is where professionals can network and enjoy an evening at one of Detroit's celebrated landmarks, while supporting an important cause."

The event will feature cuisine from local vendors, a silent auction of jewelry, game tickets and gift certificates with live entertainment from the Straight Ahead jazz band and a local DJ. Also, in special recognition, two local community leaders will receive Spotlight Awards.
