Women’s Organization Young, Ambitious and Beautiful Hosts Event for Black Women

etroit-based women's organizations Young, Ambitious and Beautiful and Jane Thang Productions LLC will host their second annual collaborative event, How Young, Ambitious and Beautiful Women Maintain Their Strength, Empowerment and Class on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013.

Originally held in Chicago, the event aims to help young women of color establish their career during their post-undergraduate experience.

"People are stuck doing jobs they don't want to do," Y.A.B. co-founder Lauren Bealore says. "(Professionalism) doesn't have to start at 40. It doesn't have to start after accumulating a bunch of degrees. That is what the panel is for."

The panel will include a range of professionals all under the age of 30, most of whom are entrepreneurs from a variety of fields and industries. Each panelist will speak, and will also answer various questions spanning topics, not only about careers, but also relationships, following your passion and maintaining a social life.

Those in attendance will get the opportunity to mix, mingle and network for an hour before the panel discussion begins.

This free event runs from 7 to 10 p.m. at In The Black Suites in downtown Detroit.

"We are from Detroit. Our goal is to get more young women of color established career lives and networking with one another," Bealore says.
