VIDEO: A peek inside the ‘This Old House’ restoration project in Russell Woods

A few weeks ago, I was really excited to find out that PBS’ “This Old House” would be filming a Detroit family’s home restoration in Russell Woods, a neighborhood far from the media praises lavished upon Midtown but no less important. Now, we’ve got video of what to expect.

As the show’s hosts remind, it’s the first time “House” has been in Detroit. The home at 4055 Fullerton was purchased through the Detroit Land Bank Authority – something we knew already, but is also mentioned in the video – by a retired Detroit firefighter and his family.

“We wanted to rehab an older home so that way we can put our touches into the home,” Tamiko Polk, one of the home’s future residents, says.

There’s still no exact premiere date except for Spring 2017, per Detroit Public Television’s website, but we’ll keep you posted on the day you should set your DVRs.
