The proposal

“Delvis proposed to me during a Christian couple’s retreat in Grand Rapids called ‘Focus on the Family.'”

The dress

“This was the second dress that I tried on, and I knew immediately that it was my dress. The seamstress at Diane’s Dream Brides in Livonia was great at working with me to make sure it fit my personality and my figure just right. The ivory bead- and lace-covered gown turned out perfectly. I completed the look with a birdcage headpiece, which added just the touch of old Hollywood glamour that I was looking for.”

The ceremony

“The ceremony was a very intimate two-person affair held in the garden court of the Riverside Hotel. Pastor Robert Martin officiated; he also provided us premarital counseling prior to. We arranged a livestream and broadcasted our nuptials to our friends and family back home, so they could watch as it unfolded and be a part of our big day. We hired a classically trained 24-year-old violinist named Ian Mann to play during the ceremony.”

Most memorable moment

“Other than being born again and accepting Jesus as the Lord of my life, marrying Tamekia was one of greatest days of my life.” … “Delvis is my best friend. We catch each other’s blind spots, and I feel extremely blessed to be Mrs. Nixon and be loved by a real man of God.”
