The Cochrane House is Your Home Away From Home

The Cochrane House

We all need to start our morning off just right. Whether that’s with the perfect breakfast, cup of tea or coffee, or simply a relaxing moment for reflection – a moment where time finally slows down and you’re not in a rush.

Sisters Francina and Roderica James, owners of downtown Detroit’s The Cochrane House Historic Luxury Inn, had this in mind when they opened the popular bed-and-breakfast last year.

“We wanted to create a home away from home, peace of mind and an unforgettable experience,” Francina says. “We want people to be able to relax, play music, board games, get a glass of wine and enjoy yourself.

We want to ensure your mind, body and soul are relaxed.” Roderica sees The Cochrane House’s target audience as “spirited adults” and “picky millennials.”

It’s about providing a non-traditional bed-and-breakfast experience, which she believes is reflected in the “modern and sophisticated dĆ©cor.”

In the end, it’s all about first – and last – impressions. “We want our guests to take it all in and have a great Detroit experience,” she says.
